Mandamus law suits against USCIS on the rise; what you should know

Immigration lawyer Joseph Barnett says mandamus lawsuits against U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) are happening as current processing times are “just wrong and a travesty.” Barnett reminds us that the 2016 hike in I-526 filing fees was to improve efficiency. He also states that “first in, first out” is not always happening”; and a writ of mandamus should be a last resort after documented multiple attempts to resolve the issue.
