Developer Robert Matthews collected money from 88 EB-5 investors for the renovation of the Palm House Hotel in Palm Beach Florida. But instead of completing the project, he used the money for a 151-foot yacht and to purchase property for himself. Palm Beach Lawyer Leslie R. Evans faces multiple fraud charges related to helping Matthews misappropriate the funds. The attorney could face 230 years in prison. His jury trial is postponed due to the coronavirus.
