USCIS set to furlough 67% of employees on August 30

With the no imminent support from a stimulus package, the immigration agency has notified 13,400 of its 20,000 employees that they will be furloughed before the end of the month. The American Immigration Lawyers Association argues the furloughs could be delayed and wants its members of Congress to make the agency responsible for its budget shortfall and to predicate funding on key changes of efficiency, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.
