EB-5 is the U.S. immigration-by-investment program created in 1990 by Congress to stimulate the U.S. economy, especially in areas of need, through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors. It allows foreign investors to obtain a Green Card (permanent residence) for themselves and their families by making a qualifying investment.
To qualify, the investor must invest a minimum of $800,000 or $1,050,000, depending on the location and type of the investment, in a business that creates or preserves at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers (excluding the investor and their immediate family members).
