Immigration law firm Wolfsdorf Rosenthal has written an extensive article listing 47 questions and answers concerning the complex subject of retrogression (when a country has exceeded its annual visa limit and applicants from that country are a placed on a waiting list).

Some of the questions include the following: what is a priority date (the date USCIS receives an I-526 petition), why is a priority date important (for a visa number to be available, that date must be on or before the date listed as current for that country), and can an applicant get ahead on the USA investor visa waiting list (no, unless they file in a different preference category with a shorter line).
