Tech layoffs hit Indian H-1B holders hard: ‘absolutely harrowing’

Government and industry estimates indicate that Indians account for one-third of the 200,000 tech jobs lost in the last year. An Indian employee with Amazon describes the experience of a layoff “absolutely harrowing,” and the founder of an Indian networking group says that laid-off workers are often in a state of panic and emotional trauma as their 60-day grace period ticks away. H-1B holders can seek an extension if a Green Card application, like an EB-5 petition, is filed.
