Oakland businessman sentenced to 16 months in prison for EB-5 fraud with multiple projects

After striking a plea agreement, Thomas Henderson, 72, will face jail time for defrauding EB-5 investors. His San Francisco Regional Center raised more than $100 million for seven projects but Henderson misappropriated investment capital for other uses, including the funding of other struggling projects. He also pleaded guilty to making false statements to USCIS. Originally, prosecutors requested a sentence of at least four years in prison.
